BOCES looks to meet workforce needs; invites businesses to tech center tours

CANTON — St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) will look to showcase how their programs can help meet the needs of local businesses.

The St. Lawrence County Business Connections Committee (with representatives from the STLC Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Agency, New York Power Authority, Workforce Development Board, and Small Business Development Center) is partnering with BOCES for informational programs and student-led tours.

The events will take place at the three tech centers in St. Lawrence County.

St. Lawrence County business owners should plan to join and learn about programs offered at BOCES and how they can help meet workforce needs.

Businesses who attended these tours in the past have gone on to host BOCES’ students as interns and hire them at graduation. Given the exceptional opportunity it offers for the County’s businesses to see, firsthand, the talented workforce and training available through BOCES, we are gearing up to host another tour series.

The three program tours will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at Southwest Tech, Fowler; Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Seaway Tech, Norwood; and Tuesday, March 26 at Northwest Tech, Ogdensburg.

Business owners can attend at the location most convenient to them, or that hosts the programs matching your business needs, or all three. Wherever you attend, you'll get the opportunity to see all that BOCES offers and hear about it directly from the students and staff.

Advance registration is required, and space is limited.

Breakfast will be provided.

To register for the event at Southwest Tech in Fowler, click on the Event Calendar at www.visitstlc.com and the “Business Connections: Spotlight on Resources” link on October 17.
