SLU's Newton breaks two more swim records in Day 4 prelims

The St. Lawrence University men's and women's swimming and diving teams finaled 13 individuals and two relay teams in the final day of the UNYSCSA Championships hosted by Nazareth College.  Junior Russ Newton broke two University records in the 1650 free and 1000 free previously set in 1984. 

Also advancing in the 1650 was senior Jared Pellerin, sophomore Alex Root and first-year student Tad Deatly.  Sophomore Jason Dutra and junior Andrew Hayes both advanced in the 200 back, while senior Rob Sibley advanced in the 200 breast.  The relay team of Dutra, Hayes, Newton and senior Russ Newton advanced in the 400 free relay. 

In the women's competition, senior Katy Kozminski advanced in the 100 free, while junior Brynn Hagen and sophomore Casey Abribat advanced in the 200 back.  First-year student Elizabeth Canne and senior Hannah Grimes advanced in the 200 breast and junior Katie Spakowski advanced in the 1650 free.  The relay team of Canne, Abribat, sophomore Maria Anselmi and first-year student Molly Spakowski advanced in the 400 free relay.
