Opinion: Life was better, when it was simple, says Canton resident

To the Editor:

I found this old poem recently which I believe may have been written by the late Bill Lewis and would like to share it.

Your poem struck home in a number of ways, in making me long for the good old days, when freedom was cherished, after the big war was won, and life was not easy, but we got ‘er done.

Families struggled and worked hard for what little we had without help from Uncle, and it was not all that bad. Now times are so different, it almost makes me sick. Can’t fathom what makes these politicians tick.

They’re corrupt and greedy and morally lacking. Only hope folks will wise up and send them all packing.

There’s hardly a good one in the whole damn bunch and people should know there’s no such thing as free lunch.

Voters have been brainwashed and lied to big time. Get rid of them all. That’s the end of my rhyme.
