GOUVERNEUR -- The Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair kicks into high gear today as amusement rides are expected to begin operation this afternoon.
The fair runs through Sunday, Aug. 8 with a rodeo, parade and tractor pull. Many animal exhibits and 4-H competitions are also on tap.
The fair schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, Aug. 4
9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 4-H Youth Building open
10 a.m. - 7 p.m. FFA Building open for daily activities and demonstrations
10 a.m. 4-H Dairy Showmanship (dairy show ring)
TBD FFA Leadsman Class-Immediately follows Showmanship (Dairy Show Ring)
10 a.m. Tractor Driving/FFA Tree ID/Wildlife ID/Field and Forage Contest (FFA Barn)
Noon First Flower Show (youth building)
1 p.m. RIDES OPEN
1:30 p.m. 4-H and Open Sheep Show – all breeds (sheep barn)
6 p.m. 95.3 The Wolf Country Showdown
6:30 p.m. Sheep Lead Class (grandstand before parade)
7 p.m. Firemen’s Parade (grandstand) FREE
Thursday, Aug. 5
9 a.m. to 8 p.m. 4-H Youth Building Open
9 a.m. 4-H & Open Holstein, Guernsey and Milking Shorthorn Show (show ring)
10 a.m. - 7 p.m. FFA Building open for daily activities and demonstrations
12 p.m. Harness races
1 p.m. Wool Fleece judging (sheep barn)
