OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg Public Library has joined libraries across the country to participate in the summer reading program, "Imagine Your Story."
Summer reading is an important activity for children and teens to help prevent the summer slide in reading levels.
Schools, school libraries, public libraries and families can help students to read over the holidays by working together with support, encouragement, and access to enjoyable reading material.
This year’s summer reading program will be kicking off early to help kids avoid a slide in reading levels while staying safe at home.
Summer Reading started April 15 and runs till Aug. 31.
The Ogdensburg Public Library will offer prizes (upon re-opening) to those children between the ages of 0-18 who read and record their reading. Five picture books or five chapters will earn a reader a small prize to be collected at the library when it reopens. Every five books or chapters a child will also earn a chance at one of the grand prizes.
To participate, readers must read a book or a chapter from a book, fill in the reading log or make their own with the title, author and number of chapters read. One picture book counts as one chapter. Finally they must bring their reading log into the library to collect prizes or email your reading to SummerReadingOBURG2020@gmail.com
If readers choose to use email, include first and last name so the library can give proper credit for the reading.
All prizes will be collected at the library when it reopens.
