Lisbon Central School sponsoring online boating safety course Dec. 7-10

LISBON - The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will off an online boating safety course.

This course, sponsored by the Lisbon Central School District, is available to anyone who has a computer or phone with a camera and microphone. Anyone can register for the Dec. 7-10 class by calling 315-393-4951 or email rexfordj@lisbon.k12.ny.us.

New York State requires all power boat operators, (who must be at least 10 years of age) to complete a boating safety course per the following schedule. All personal watercraft (jet ski) operators regardless of age and at least 14 years of age must complete a boating safety course.

Born after Jan. 1, 1993 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2020.

Born after Jan. 1, 1988 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2022.

Born after Jan. 1, 1983 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2023.

Born after Jan. 1, 1978 you will need a boating safety certificate in 2024.

Jan. 1, 2025, all motorized vessel operators need a boating safety certificate regardless of your age.

The “About Boating Safely” certificate and card never expires, and is easily replaced if lost or damaged by contacting the Ogdensburg Auxiliary. This training is valid in all states.
