CANTON — GardenShare is marking Hunger Action Month by inviting local residents to run, walk, bik, skate, or stroll in the annual Fight Hunger 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, Sept. 19, at the Remington Trail in Canton.

Sign-in begins at 12:30 and the walk/run begins at 1 p.m. Registration for the event is $25 per person. Register today at www.runsignup.com/fighthunger5k.

Each registration is a donation to support GardenShare’s work to ensure a robust local food system and address issues of food justice, income inequality, and racial equity. The first 150 registrants will receive a reusable Fight Hunger 5K tote bag. Participants are encouraged to invite family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to help fight hunger as 5K walkers/runners or as sponsors!

Organizers are closely monitoring COVID data and guidance; safety guidelines at the event may include a requirement to wear masks while congregating outside. Remote participation is welcome for those more comfortable with that option.

GardenShare is a locally led, volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that works to promote a local food system that ensures food security for all St. Lawrence County residents. The annual Fight Hunger 5K raises money to support GardenShare programs that address those issues. Learn more at www.GardenShare.org.
