POTSDAM -- Clarkson University Women’s Ice Hockey Team, along with Team IMPACT, will hold a special Draft Day celebration for 14-year-old Kayla Braley of Black River, on Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Cheel Arena.

Team IMPACT is a Boston-headquartered national nonprofit whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing serious and chronic illnesses through the power of team, said a press release from Clarkson University.

Through Team IMPACT's program at Division III Clarkson University, the top recruit will become an official member of the Women’s Ice Hockey Team. As a team member, Kayla will attend Golden Knights practices, games, team dinners, events, and more, the press release said.

Kayla will sign an official Letter of Intent and there will be special remarks by Clarkson University Assistant Women’s Ice Hockey Coach Britni Smith.

Since 2011, Team IMPACT has matched over 2,000 children with more than 700 colleges and universities in 48 states, reaching over 55,000 participating student-athletes. The child joins the athletic team and the student-athletes join the child’s support team.
