OGDENSBURG -- A history of Ogdensburg and the North Country’s role in the battle between France and Great Britain for control of North America was introduced at Saturday’s battle at Le Siege of Fort de La Presentation.

The introduction to the battle was presented by Ogdensburg author Jim Reagen who wrote “Warriors of La Presentation,” a history of the French and Indian War in Northern New York.

"It is so nice to be back after three years,” said Executive Director Barb O’Keefe. “

The battles, which continue this afternoon, will feature actual tactics and period weapons used by British, French and Native forces during the war. For more about today's events, see story here.

Spokesperson Daniel Roi stated “It is good for our forces to return to camp to refresh and plan.“

The event continues on Sunday with a Mass that was planned for 7:30 a.m. for the first time in 232 years on the site of the original chapel.

"The weather is just perfect and the breeze from the river is refreshing," said O'Keefe. "Thank you to all who help make this event a success.”
