The pleasant weekend St. Lawrence County residents experienced will be a distant memory soon enough, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Temperatures warm sharply over the next couple of days leading to the warmest temperatures seen in the area in several years.
Be sure to take appropriate precautions to avoid heat stress Tuesday through Thursday, NWS says.
Before the extreme heat, highs today will push 85 with partly sunny skies, the service says. Overnight the low will be near 70.
Heat index values near 100 are forecast for Tuesday.
The extended forecast through Sunday is as follows:
Tuesday
Sunny and hot, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 100. Southwest wind 7 to 9 mph.
Tuesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 74. South wind around 6 mph.
Juneteenth
Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 93. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph.
Wednesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Southwest wind around 8 mph.
Thursday
A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 92. West wind 7 to 11 mph.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
