POTSDAM -- Members of the Adirondack Mountain Club’s Laurentian Chapter will sell used and some new hiking, backpacking, climbing and camping equipment 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21 at 29 Waverly St.

Items in good condition may be contributed to the sale during the week preceding the sale. All unsold items will be returned to the contributor, and all sales will be final.

Items already contributed include a backpacking tent, backpacks, sleeping pads, bivouac bag (sleeping bag cover), ice axe, climbing rope, portable gas grill, and some RV items.

Funds raised at the sale will support ADK’s local programs in conservation, education and trail maintenance.

The ADK chapter maintains trails in the Stone Valley Cooperative Recreation Area in Colton and the Red Sandstone Trail in Potsdam. The chapter supports camper weeks at Camp Colby, the DEC conservation camp in Saranac Lake.

In addition to a full yearly slate of hikes, paddles, bicycle rides and winter outings, the Laurentian Chapter and its members carry out annual trail maintenance and clean-up days at Lampson Falls, Everton Falls, Catamount Mountain in Essex County, and various Adirondack Park lean-to shelters. The chapter also participates in the regional work of the Adirondack Mountain Club and the Raquette River Blueway Corridor group.

For information about the sale, including items to be offered, contact Dick Mooers at rmooers@twcny.rr.com or 854-4186.
