CANTON – EDF Renewables, developers of the 240-megawatt Rich Road solar project, will be filing its application with the state on Friday, March 31.

The solar center is located on 1,700 acres along Rt. 11 south in the Town of Canton and stretching from the Eddy-Pyrites Road to the Miner Street Road and west to the Irish Settlement Road.

“We wanted to let you know that we will be filing the Application with ORES on Friday, March 31. That day, online versions will be posted to the ORES website (https://orespermits.ny.gov/Public/MatterManagement/CaseMaster.aspx?MatterSeq=64955&MNO=22-00031) and links will be provided on the project website here: https://www.edf-re.com/project/rich-road-solar/,” stated Jack Geldard, project development for EDF Renewables in an email. “On Friday, we will also be shipping paper copies of the Application to the Service List, including to the Town and County, with courtesy copies added for the Village of Canton.”

Paper copies will also be available for public viewing at the Canton Free Library.

“We are also working to compile some data and information to respond to your questions and requests for additional information at the meeting. As we noted, much of the information you were seeking will be included in the Application, but we also have some Section 94-c process guides and other resources we are happy to share with you to facilitate your participation in this new (and complex) State siting process,” the email stated.

Once EDF’s application is filed, interested parties seeking intervenors status must file documentation with the Office for Renewable Energy Siting within 30 days. The Canton Village Board has indicated they will be applying for intervenor status.

EDF is required to provide $240,000 or $1,000 per megawatt, to be put towards the intervenor process.
