Davis confirmed Tuesday afternoon that he has been selected to run the Shreveport, Louisiana Airport Authority, subject to approval by the city.

"I am deeply honored by the well-wishers and community outreach to me today,” Davis said when asked about the new job.

“I am honored to lead an engaged team composed of the Authority's Board of Directors and management staff and to realize what an outsized impact that we've had on so many in Northern New York. I would specifically like to thank everyone who supported so many successful economic initiatives throughout my many years of Authority service. This includes my wonderful wife Julie, our three children, and my extended family who have been my advisors and support for so many years."

He will be discussing his leaving and his replacement with the OBPA board, Davis said.

"I will address these matters with the board at its next session on December 5, 2019 and provide you with an update at that time."

“The North Country is a great place to live, work, and raise a family and it will always have a special place in my heart!” Davis said.

He and his staff at OBPA have presided over an extension of the Ogdensburg Airport’s single runway by 1,200 feet to make it long enough in 2016 to bring in scheduled service by jet airliners from SkyWest Airlines/ United Express and low-cost carrier Allegiant Air.

The Shreveport Airport Authority Board of Directors unanimously approved Davis as the new director of the authority and have passed the recommendation onto the mayor's office. The mayor and the city council are expected to approve the appointment at their meeting Dec. 10, according to Mark Crawford, who handles marketing and public relations for the airport authority.

Shreveport Airport Authority is charged with the operation and maintenance of Shreveport Downtown Airport, a general aviation airport, and Shreveport Regional Airport, a commercial small hub airport, according to their web site. Both airports serve Shreveport and the surrounding region, including North Louisiana, East Texas, and Southwest Arkansas.
