MASSENA -- Kentucky Fried Chicken may be returning to the village.

The St. Lawrence County Planning Board reviewed an application presented by the Brooks Washburn architectural firm to add the eatery to Mountain Mart on South Main Street, according to Deputy Planning Director Jason Pfotenhauer.

He said the board forwarded the application to be reviewed by the Village Planning Board.

He said the county board included comments on being sure that there isn’t congestion behind the building due to the existing Dunkin Donuts drivethrough, placement of their trash bins, and parking.

“That can be a little congested in the back. That’s there deliveries happen as well,” Pfotenhauer said. “We want to make sure village is aware there needs to be enough room in the back of the building for two drivethroughs.”

He said he hopes the project makes it through the local board.

“I think it’s a great project. It’s an addition of a restaurant option in Massena,” Pfotenhauer said.

Massena used to have a KFC/Long John Silver’s where Tim Horton’s is now located.
