MASSENA — A Massena man was charged with driving while impaired and another driver was hospitalized following a motor vehicle accident Saturday evening, according to state police.
Ryan J. O’Neill, 34, was charged with operating a motor vehicle while ability impaired by drugs, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at 4:57 p.m., officers said.
Troopers responded on April 20 at at 4:22 p.m. to the intersection of County Route 43 and State Highway 37B in the town of Louisville for a personal injury accident.
An investigation reportedly determined O’Neill was traveling in a 2022 black Chevrolet Silverado, and rear-ended 2012 gray Chrysler while it was stopped at a stop sign.
When the Troopers arrived, O’Neill was being medically evaluated by EMS, which he signed off on medical attention, officers said.
Alexis N. Gon Dosch, 34, of Massena, operator of the 2012 gray Chrysler was transported to Massena Memorial Hospital for back pain, police said.
When troopers interviewed O’Neill; he was allegedly showing signs of impairment.
Officers said they administered field sobriety tests, which he reportedly failed.
Troopers said they located drug paraphernalia inside of the vehicle, but did not say what it was.
O’Neill was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Louisville Court returnable to a later date in May.
