Wind chill advisory in St. Lawrence County ending 1 p.m. Saturday; temps near 40 possible Sunday

A wind chill advisory in St. Lawrence County will expire at 1 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

Dangerously cold wind chills near -45 were expected overnight and into this morning in parts of the North Country, NWS said.

People are warned to avoid outside activities if possible and when outside, to dress in layers and make sure to wear appropriate clothing, including a hat and gloves, the service says.

Forecasters predict a high temperatures today around 13, with wind chill values around -30 early today. Overnight the temp will rise to around 25 with a wind chill value near -1.

Sunday may feel like a heat wave with a high near 38 expected, NWS says.

The forecast through next Friday is as follows:

Sunday

A slight chance of snow showers before 1pm, then snow showers likely, possibly mixed with rain. Cloudy, with a high near 38. South wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Sunday Night

Rain and snow showers likely before 3am, then a chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Southwest wind 7 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday

A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 28. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light in the afternoon. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Night

Partly cloudy, with a low around 15. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight.

Tuesday

Showers likely after 1pm. Cloudy, with a high near 41. Breezy, with a south wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

A 50 percent chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 32. Southwest wind 13 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
