POTSDAM -- AffordableCollegesOnline.org has listed Clarkson University in the nation’s top 30 private colleges for a “return on investment” of at least $1 million, according to Clarkson staffers.
The website considers the cost of attendance as an investment, and determines the return on that investment by subtracting the tuition and the amount a graduate would be expected to make with only a high school degree from the income that student would be expected to earn after graduating from Clarkson.
The website estimates Clarkson’s 30-year net return under that formula at $1.1 million.
Only one percent of colleges meet the $1 million mark, according to a press release from Clarkson.
"As prospective students and their parents increasingly look for an excellent return on investment from college, Clarkson is well-positioned to continue graduating students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in a global economy," said Clarkson President Tony Collins.
Clarkson also made the website’s top 10 list for return on investment in New York.
