POTSDAM -- Clarkson University’s 2013 Melissa A. Walsh ’03 ’05 Memorial Endowed Scholarship, established in memory of the former Massena High School and Clarkson graduate, has been awarded to second-year doctor of physical therapy student Clare M. Sheldon of Norwich.
The scholarship was created by Walsh’s family and friends to assist a Clarkson University physical therapy student with qualities and goals similar to hers.
In applying for the scholarship, Sheldon wrote, "As a physical therapy student I am eager and motivated to continue to work upon my skills and knowledge base to provide the best quality care for my patients. My personal long-term commitment towards continual learning and staying current in the healthcare environment is what also draws me to the profession.
Walsh lost her life in a 2007 motor vehicle accident. At Clarkson, she earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology in 2003 and a master of physical therapy degree in 2005.
Sheldon received her bachelor of science degree in psychology from Clarkson in 2012.
