WADDINGTON -- The Waddington Concert Series will dedicate its July 20th concert (6:30-8:30 p.m. in Island View Park Pavilion) to Alice Carr.
Carr loved music and was deemed "Waddington's Dancing Queen," said a press release from the series, and when Alice "hit the scene" you had better be ready to dance. She attended every concert as well as other music events in the area.
Carr grew up in the Coles Creek area and graduated from Waddington High School.
She married George Carr at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waddington, where they raised four children, Linda Reimer of Madrid, Larry Carr of Waddington, George Carr of Highland, and Roger Carr of Waddington.
Carr was an active community member who volunteered time and resources, the press release said. She was a volunteer at the Neighborhood Center, a member of the Seaway Valley Senior Citizens, a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, a member of the Family Circle, a member of the Waddington Fire Dept Auxiliary and was always ready to help out anyone in need. She was a talented baker and enjoyed making pies and homemade donuts for the community.
The community of Waddington would like to recognize Alice by placing a bench near the Island View Park Pavilion in her memory.
Donation jars will be placed in local businesses or you can donate online at the WCS website www.waddingtonconcertseries.com/wcs.html.
