If you are planning to vote for sheriff, county clerk, town councilor, village trustee or one of the dozens of other seats up for grabs in this November’s election, here are a few dates that the St. Lawrence County Board of Elections suggests you keep in mind:
• Aug. 19, last day for applications for registration/enrollment for the primary to be postmarked
• Aug. 24, last day for “Change of Address” to reach the Board of Elections to be effective for the primary election
• Sept. 6, last day to apply by mail for absentee for the primary
• Sept. 12, last day to deliver absentee ballot application or apply in person for an absentee ballot for the primary
• Sept. 13, absentee ballots for the primary must reach the Board of Elections by the close of the polls on primary day, except that ballots postmarked by the postal service not later than the day before the primary election may be received through seven days after election, this year until Sept. 20
• Sept. 13, Primary Election Day, polls open noon to 9 p.m.
• Oct. 14, applications for registration by mail must be postmarked not later than this day
• Oct. 19, last day for “change of address” to reach the Board of Elections to be effective for the General Election
• Oct. 29, a Saturday, Board of Elections office will be open 9 a.m. to noon to issue absentee ballots
• Nov. 1, last day to apply by mail for absentee ballot for General Election
• Nov. 3, Board of Elections office will remain open until 7 p.m. to issue absentee ballots
• Nov. 5, a Saturday, Board of Elections office will be open 9 a.m. to noon to issue absentee ballots
Nov. 7, last day to deliver absentee ballot application or apply in person for an absentee ballot for the General Election
Nov. 8, absentee ballots must reach the Board of Elections by the close of the polls on Election Day, except that ballots postmarked by the postal service not later than the day before election may be received until seven days after the election (Nov 15, and military Nov. 21)
Nov. 8, General Election Day, polls open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
