OGDENSBURG -- United Helpers are seeking clothing donations for its 2016 Back to School Shopper Days, which will give outfits to needy children shortly before the start of the 2016-2017 school year.
“We are hopeful that if we collect from now until August we will be able to hold the event in at least three communities,” said United Helpers Assistant Housing Manager Carol A. Basford, adding they need garments ranging from toddler to adult sizes.
In August roughly 100 children each received five gently used outfits to prepare them for the upcoming school year. Clothing was sorted by the residents of Cambray Courts, who also “waited on” the families who participated, United Helpers said.
“As you clean out your closets to make room for new clothes you may have received for Christmas or discard items that no longer fit after successfully completing your New Year’s Resolution, please keep United Helpers in mind,” a news release from the organization reads.
Donations can be dropped off to the housing department at United Helpers Management Company, 732 Ford St., Ogdensburg.
To arrange a pick up, call Brooke at 287-1020 or Angie Foster at 382-1734.
