CANTON – High fashion from Bloomingdales has come to Canton, at the Fashion Kraze store in the University Plaza, which is under new management.
“We have an exclusive deal with Bloomingdales in New York to carry all the brands Blomingdales carries, include Tommy Hlifiger, Michael Kors, XO, and others,” said Herbert Becker, former chairman and CEO of Hackett’s Department Stores.
Becker and Magic Web, LLC have bought the Fashion Kraze store and name from Rich Greenspan. Greenspan and his siblings are former suppliers to WiseBuys stores, which bought the now-defunct Hacketts chain.
Becker says his display area is now at about 25,000 square feet, which he plans to expand to 45,000 square feet by January as he builds inventory.
“We will have in-season Bloomingdales products at 25 to 75 percent off the Bloomingdales price,” Becker said.
At Christmastime, Becker said he plans to have a large toy department and “a strong seasonal electronics department.”
They also carry gift items such as Yankee candles and Woodstock chimes, “which have always done well in the North Country but can be hard to find.”
Becker said it is too early to talk about other locations, other than to say that he is looking for possibilities.
