MASSENA - Massena police confirmed an unattended death occurred late last week within the village.

Family members have been notified but out of respect, police will not be releasing the name of the deceased at this time, according to Chief Jason Olson.

“We treat every unattended death the same, under suspicion of potential foul play, until the evidence shows otherwise,” he said.

In the case of the unattended death reported, no foul play is suspected, police say.

The investigation is expected to be closed today, barring any larger developments in the case, police say.
