POTSDAM — Train rides for children will be offered in Ives Park on Saturday, May 21, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Marina and Ben Smith of Canton, owners of LocomotiveRides, will set up their trackless train “Mountain Express” in the park.
The train is battery-operated with no emissions.
LocomotiveRides is a small, family-owned local business, the Smiths said. The company provides train rides for small kid-friendly gatherings like birthday parties and large events such as street festivals, fairs, or parades.
The company first opened its rides on Nov. 30 at the St. Lawrence Centre Mall in Massena.
The rides in Ives Park will cost $5 per rider. Children younger than 2 years old will ride for free. Children younger than 6 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
