CANTON -- Local Living Festival organizers are creating an ongoing event that culminates in a game, toy, and book swap as part of the festival on Sept. 26.
A “Community Game, Book & Toy Swap” will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3 ½ East Main St., Saturday September 26 as part of the Local Living Festival that will occur in the Village Green and surrounding indoor venues.
Deep Root Center and the Unitarian Universalist Church of Canton are the organizers of the event. Collection sites to drop off goods are at the Potsdam Public Library, 2 Park St. and Deep Root Center, 7 Main St., 2nd floor in Canton through Sept. 25. Items can be delivered to the U.U. Church, before noon, the day of the swap as well.
The actual swap event will be held downstairs at the church from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Clothing, furniture, and electronic items will not be accepted. There will also be non-stop children's activities all day at the Canton Village Green including a bicycle skills course and safety training for kids.
“The concept of a game, toy and book swap fits wonderfully into the Zero Waste concept of the Local Living Festival, where not only is recycling encouraged, but finding ways to prevent trash from being created in the first place is highlighted,” organizers said.
