Nature Up North is organizing a series of tours of local waterfalls in coming weeks.
The tours will be held on Saturdays in July from 10 a.m.-noon July 14, 21, and 28. The hikes are free and all ages are welcome. For carpooling information and to RSVP, email info@natureupnorth.org.
The following tours are scheduled:
• Tooley Pond Road, Clare, Saturday, July 21; waterfalls and cascades found along the Grasse River on Tooley Pond Road in Clare. The group will meet at the Northwest end of Tooley Pond Road, at the junction with County Route 27 in Degrasse. Please be prepared to caravan as the group plans to stop at several falls along the way before turning around at Tooley Pond.
• Stone Valley, Colton,Saturday, July 28; located in Colton near Higley Flow State Park, Stone Valley is a 7-mile trail along the Racquette River. The group will hike 2-3 miles, starting at the trailhead on the east side of the river in downtown Colton and walking along the cascades and falls past the dam. The trail slopes up and down, but is of moderate difficulty with no steep inclines.
