I read, with disbelief and alarm, an article concerning the Village of Massena's proposed budget. The article states that the village is eliminating it's $60,000 budget line which is used to fund the Massena BDC. The article mentions that there is concern over the fact that BDC has not had an outside audit of its financial dealings since 2003. Are you kidding? How could a publicly funded entity have been allowed to function for seven years without any objective financial accountability? Is this even legal? Has the BDC been receiving $60,000 per year for those seven years? It's past time for an audit.
