CANTON -- Hugh C. Williams High School students Chiayun Cheng, Abby Kerrigan, and Kenneth C. Stuntz have been named Commended Students in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Letters of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented to these scholastically talented seniors.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise, according to the announcement. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) out of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 competition.
"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," said a spokesperson for NMSC.
