HOPKINTON – Thomas J. Farns, 80, of Santamont Road, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, March 24, 2024, in Hopkinton.
Tommy was born on September 25, 1943 in Canton, the son of the late Thomas and Cassie (Smith) Farns.
He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1960, proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1964.
He then married Sharon M. Simonds, she predeceased him on December 18, 2012.
He worked construction, was self-employed for many years working in the woods and retired from NYS DOCCS in October 2003.
He loved being in the woods, enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing, country music, and playing the slots.
He always said “He had lived a lot longer than he should have.”
Tommy is survived by his daughter, Cheri; three grandchildren, James, Cheyenne, and Travis Hollenbeck; his loving companion, Madeline Snell Pennington; his sisters, Marion Davis; his brothers, John and Keith Bartlett.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Sharon (Simonds) Farns; his brothers, Odo and Roger; and sisters, Emily, Beverly, Sharon, Barbara, and Harriett.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, however there will be no services.
