NORWOOD -- The Norwood Village Green concert series will continue Sunday, July 7 at 7 p.m. with “The All Star Big Band” and guest artist Denis DiBlasio.
The band, directed by Wally Siebel, consists of Crane School of Music faculty members, area music teachers and other local musicians. The group has been a staple of the concert series for more than 30 years.
After receiving his master's degree DiBlasio joined the big band of trumpeter Maynard Ferguson, serving as Maynard’s musical director for five years.
DiBlasio performs on the baritone saxophone and flute with a scat-vocal technique. He also composes and creates his own arrangements.
He is the director of the jazz program at Rowan University, conducts Rowan’s lab band and serves as executive director of The Maynard Ferguson Institute of Jazz Studies at Rowan.
Admission is free but a “pass the bucket” will be offered.
