In response to "Custodial Raises" which appeared in the Aug. 26 issue of North Country This Week: The writer referred to the fact that the custodial staff at Potsdam Central School has been without a raise or contract for three years. This issue is rampant across the North Country educational institutions. There are teachers and staff members in many of the local districts who are without contracts or making great sacrifices in contract settlements to keep their jobs. We as community members/taxpayers are doing the public education a great disservice by not standing behind the people who make these systems work. Do not take for granted the devotion of those who are creating the adults of the future.
