CANTON --TAUNY has received $20,000 to support an exhibition of quilts documented by the Northern New York Quilt Project.
The exhibit of antique and contemporary quilts will focus on quilt-making traditions from throughout the North Country region. The exhibit will include video, photographs and other artifacts along with the quilts, and is expected to travel throughout the region and beyond.
National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu said, βThe arts are part of our everyday lives β no matter who you are or where you live β they have the power to transform individuals, spark economic vibrancy in communities, and transcend the boundaries across diverse sectors of society. Supporting projects like TAUNY's offers more opportunities to engage in the arts every day.β
The NEA announced awards totaling more than $27.6 million in its first funding round of fiscal year 2016, including the Art Works award to TAUNY. The Art Works category supports the creation of work and presentation of both new and existing work, lifelong learning in the arts, and public engagement with the arts through 13 arts disciplines or fields.
