CANTON — Today (Thursday, Nov. 30) is the final day to submit gingerbread entries for the TAUNY Center’s Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Making Contest.

TAUNY began its Sugar & Spice Gingerbread Contest and Exhibit in 2002 to encourage and celebrate the creative wintertime tradition of building gingerbread houses. Over the years, entrants have depicted everything from lighthouses and farmsteads to local streetscapes and forest scenes.

This year’s theme is Handwork.

TAUNY invites bakers to be creative and stretch the boundaries of the theme, but particularly look forward to entries that represent work done by hand in the North Country – whether it takes place in the home, on the farm, or in the artist’s workshop or studio. If it's handcrafted, it fits the theme.

Entries are due at The TAUNY Center by 5 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30.

The exhibit opens Saturday, Dec. 2.

Winners will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 30.
