HANNAWA FALLS -- Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley has put out the call for swimmers to swim a mile in a fundraising event Aug. 6 at Postwood Park.
They are also asking for the help of kayakers and canoeists to escort swimmers along the course, and for other volunteers.
Swim a Mile for Hospice is a non-competitive, open water swim to support Hospice.
Swimmers will set off at 8 a.m. at their own pace.
Prizes will be given to those swimmers and boaters who raise the most money in sponsorships.
Registration fee is $25. Swimmers 18 or older must raise at least $75 in sponsorships. Swimmers 14-17 must raise at least $25 in sponsorships.
Each registrant gets a tee shirt, bathing cap and continental breakfast.
