Susie Ruth Bodah, 89, Massena

MASSENA --Susie Ruth Bodah, 89, of 70 Ames Street, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Susie was born on December 29, 1934, in Alexandria, Ontario, daughter of the late Wesley and Ida (McNamara) Alguire.

She attended Cornwall High School and studied Early Childhood Development.

She married Donald A. MacDonald in October of 1953, in Cornwall, Ontario. The marriage ended in divorce.

Susie later married Howard J. Bodah on April 21, 1988, at in Massena. Howard predeceased her on March 15, 2004.

Susie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Massena, where she taught Sunday School for many years.

She was a Girl Scout Leader, 4H Leader and a member of the Massena Home Bureau.

She worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Highland Nursing Home until her retirement.

She also ran a Home Day Care, taking care of many children and also did private home care for many years, and was a private seamstress.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafting, travelling and volunteering.

She took great pride in raising her children and loved to watch her sons play hockey and even worked the Louisville Hockey concessions stand for many years.

She is survived by her children, Randy (Debra Yarbrough) MacDonald of Gaylesville, AL; Terry and Kathleen MacDonald of Scottsboro, AL; and Tammy Sue Kerr of Norfolk; three step children, William Bodah, Jackieline Premo and Mary Heading; nine grandchildren, Jared, Jordan, Jayce, Tiffany, Brittany, Steven, Erik, Rebekah and Nicholas; and twelve great grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Alguire.

Besides her parents, Wesley and Ida, and her husband, Howard, she was also predeceased by a son, Dondy Jan MacDonald; and her three sisters, Yvonne Willard, Lois Hance, Katheryne Archambeault; and four brothers, Claude, Keith, Bruce and Arlen Alguire.

Friends may call at the Donaldson Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 AM until 12 noon, when a funeral will be held at with Pastor Cory Loudon officiating.

Burial will be held in the spring at Pine Grove Cemetery Area 2.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Susie’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
