POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam alumnus Bruce Rodgers, a playwright and co-founder of the Hermitage Artist Retreat in Florida, will return to campus Oct. 22 to discuss creativity, resilience and navigating an uncertain future.
Rodgers will present “Navigating the Future Without a Map” at 6 p.m. in Kellas Hall, Room 106. The LoKo Arts event is free and open to the public.
His presentation is part of a week of events marking the launch of Deeply Rooted, Future Focused: The Campaign for Potsdam, the college’s fundraising campaign.
Rodgers, a 1971 SUNY Potsdam graduate, helped establish the Hermitage Artist Retreat in Sarasota, Florida. The organization provides artists with dedicated time and space to develop new creative work and has gained national recognition.
“Bruce is returning to Potsdam at a pivotal moment in the life of the College, as we launch the most ambitious fundraising campaign in our history and begin shaping what this campus will look like for generations to come,” said David R. Davin, vice president for college advancement.
Davin said Rodgers’ experience in creative leadership, entrepreneurship and guiding organizations through change offers perspective as the college plans for its future.
A complimentary reception featuring refreshments, conversation and artwork will follow the presentation outside Kellas Hall, Room 106.
