CANTON -- NBC Universal’s Petside.com recently named SUNY Canton as a “2012 Top Ten Pet-Friendly College.”
SUNY Canton earned the spot for its well-known Pet Wing housing option, which began in 1997, according to SUNY Canton news release.
The pet friendly residence hall allows students bring a variety of pets with them including cats, ferrets, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils and fish.
Dogs, snakes and birds are not allowed.
This is the second year in a row the College has appeared on the list, according the release.
SUNY Canton’s wesbsite says the Pet Wing contains a large number of students pursuing an associate’s degree in veterinary science technology or a bachelor’s degree in veterinary services management or veterinary technology.
According to the release, SUNY Canton is one of only 20 colleges in the nation to offer a four-year veterinary technology program.
Other schools that made the list were Washington & Jefferson College, University of Illinois, and Lehigh University.
