CANTON -- TAUNY, 53 Main St., will throw a “Sugaring-off Party” from 1 to 3 p.m. on March 15.
Families are invited listen to a reading of the children's book “The Sugaring Off Party” by Jonathan London, which describes a French-Canadian family's traditional sugaring-off celebration, including dancing, feasting and syrup on snow.
A recreation of a house party with fiddler Gretchen Koehler and her family will follow.
They will teach traditional French folk dances, songs and share the secret to playing the spoons.
After music and dancing, participants can sample wax-on-snow prepared by local syrup producer Art Hurlbut.
Wear comfortable shoes.
