Stewart A. White, 82, Brushton

BRUSHTON -- On Sunday, April 21, 2024, Stewart A. White, 82, of Brushton, New York, passed away peacefully in the presence of loved ones, in the comfort of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Odgensburg.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flint Funeral Home. Moira.

Stewart was born in Brasher Center, on September 20, 1941, to the late Stephen B. and Margaret (Eurto) White.

He was raised in Dickinson Center, graduating from St. Regis Falls High School in 1960.

In August 1960, Stewart enlisted in the United States Marine Corps “Ooh-Rah” alongside his childhood best friend, Gary Winters, serving with immense pride until his honorable discharge in August 1964, and remaining “Semper Fidelis” to his last breath.

Stewart was an employee of Alcoa Aluminum in Massena, as a Golden Arm Welder/Milwright, retiring in 2002, after more than 36 dedicated years.

Stewart was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also enjoyed snowmobiling and ATV riding.

He was a lifetime member of the Brushton Moira American Legion, the Marine Corps League in Massena, and the St. Regis Falls Sportsmen’s Club.

On July 4, 1962, he was united in marriage to Caroline M. Bassett, mother of his three children. This union ended in separation.

In the fall of 1985, Stewart began a lifetime commitment with Sandra E. Clookey, who was lovingly by his side for more than 40 years.

Stewart is survived by his lifelong companion, Sandra of Brushton, his children, Lisa Marie and David Jimenez of Dickinson Center, Stewart White Jr. (Barney) and Kimberly White of Dickinson Center, Justine Hastings of Dickinson Center, Robin and Stuart Soucia of Brainardsville, Daryl and Phyllis Clookey of Plattsburgh, Loren and Ann Clookey of Plattsburgh, Craig and Melanie Clookey of Constable, many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings Duane and Jacqueline White of Brushton, Brenda and Gary Bombard of Ellenburg, Marlene and Carl Smith of Dickinson Center, Clark White of Brushton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Stewart was predeceased by his siblings, Dixie White of Dickinson Center,
Theron (Butch) and Brenda White of Dickinson Center, and Odena Jenkins of Dickinson Center.

A time of visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Mary’s Church, Brushton, from 11:00am to 11:45am, with Stewart’s funeral Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 12 noon.

Burial will commence at the Parish Cemetery with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, although sincerely appreciated but respectfully declined, memorial donations may be made to the Moira Volunteer EMS.
