Attendance at New York State Park campgrounds around the North Country and the state is on pace for another record-setting year, according to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
Through Aug. 17, New York State Park campgrounds had seen reservations for more than 562,000 overnight stays, marking a 5.2 percent increase over 2014. The record set last year was 594,441 overnight stays.
Many of the state’s finest camping facilities are open for fall camping well into the autumn months.
In St. Lawrence County, the following campgrounds will be open through the dates noted:
• Coles Creek State Park, Sept. 12
• Higley Flow State Park – Sept. 6
• Robert Moses State Park, Oct. 11
• Eel Weir State Park, Sept. 6
• Jacques Cartier State Park, Sept. 12
• Cedar Island State Park, Sept. 6
Camping reservations are available through ReserveAmerica, which provides online and phone reservations for campsites throughout New York. Reservations are accepted for campsites and cabins, from one day to nine months in advance of the planned arrival date.
