CANTON — The St. Lawrence University String Orchestra is celebrating a 20th anniversary with its Musicians' Choice Concert with the theme “Celebrating 20 Years” on Friday, April 12 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Russell Theatre; Saturday, April 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Pickens Hall in Heuvelton; and Sunday, April 14 from 4-5:30 p.m. at SLU’s Peterson-Kermani Performance Hall.
All concerts are free, and open to the public.
The concert features a diverse assortment of orchestral musical stylings from Classical, Celtic, Pop, and Film Scores, all selected by participating orchestra musicians from 20 years of past concert programs.
This eclectic concert, under the direction of Christian Hosmer, will have something for everyone, from pop music arrangements from ABBA, The Beatles, and Queen, to great film score selections from Legends of the Fall, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, and Titanic.
The concert runs for approximately 90 minutes.
The 35 members of the string orchestra from St. Lawrence University are joined by additional students and professional musicians from Canton, Potsdam, Norwood, Massena, Gouverneur, Antwerp, Philadelphia, and Watertown to comprise a full symphonic orchestra of over 60 players.
Donations are welcome at each location.
