The Saints, 0-2, will host Hartwick in their home opener at noon on Saturday and will be looking to jump start their offense which scored just once in two games at Utica.
Hannah Mackey scored the lone goal from 12 yards out on the left side just 2:38 into the second half to give the Pioneers their second victory of the weekend. Olivia Cunningham stopped all three shots she faced for Utica, which had an 8-2 edge in penalty corners and an overall 25-3 advantage in shots with 19 of them on goal.
Ali Ferenczy and Lizzy Saward came through with defensive saves for the Saints.
"It was a tough weekend for us," said Saint coach Fran Grembowicz. "We have a number of things to work on, but we do have some time before we head into the Liberty League portion of our schedule to get things straightened around."
