The Montreal to Lake Ontario section of the St. Lawrence Seaway will close for the winter at midnight Saturday night, Dec. 29, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation announced today.
That closing date is normal for the Seaway.
At that time, all ships must be clear of the lock at St. Lambert, the furthest downstream lock on the St. Lawrence River.
Ports farther downstream will remain open during the winter, according to Seaway authorities.
