The unemployment rate in St. Lawrence County in April was 4.5%, without seasonal adjustment, 0.3 percent higher than the New York state seasonally adjusted rate.
According to a state Department of Labor report issued this week, the county’s unemployment rate increased 1.0 percent when comparing April 2023 to April 2024. The unemployment rate in St. Lawrence County currently sits at 4.5%
The state unemployment rate is 4.2 percent.
In neighboring counties, the unemployment in Jefferson County is 4.8 percent, up 1.2 percent from 3.6 percent in April 2023.
Franklin County’s unemployment rate is 4.1 percent, an increase of 0.9 percent from 3.2 percent in April 2023.
