EDWARDS -- The St. Lawrence County Historical Association at its Nov. 1 annual meeting will raffle a re-strike of an historical copper plate engraving, the original having been made by a Canton man in 1889.
“The Capitol at Washington” was originally engraved by M. Franke of Canton and the two known copies are in Library of Congress Collections. Roger Bailey of Canton made the re-strike.
Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. They will be sold at the meeting. The winner doesn't need to be present.
It is slated for Nov. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 183 Main St., Edwards.
Those interested in attending don't have to be association members.
The meeting starts with discussing business, followed by a soup and sandwich lunch at noon. Cost is $10 per person and registration is required, but registering for lunch isn't necessary to attend the meeting.
After lunch, Edwards historian LaVerne Freeman will discuss area history.
