St. Lawrence County Chamber to host 60th annual Dairy Festival Days

CANTON — The St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 60th Annual Dairy Festival Days Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1.

The event will celebrate National Dairy Month and the Dairy Festival’s momentous 60th year.

Friday, May 31 kicks off the festival with a story time event at the Canton Free Library at 2 p.m., followed by vendors, displays, and activities in the park starting at 5 p.m.

Registration for the beloved Big Wheel Races will be at 5:30 p.m., allowing children ages 4, 5, and 6 to compete in age-specific races for a grand prize of their very own Big Wheel and medals for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Registration is FREE this year and will take place in the park at the STLC Chamber table.

The Big Wheel Races are made possible by our Bronze Level Sponsors, Canton Rotary Club, North Country Savings Bank, NBT Bank, and The Sweet Retreat Bakery.

Following the races is the Block Dance sponsored by our Platinum Level Sponsors, LeBerge & Curtis Inc., The St. Lawrence County Farm Bureau, S&N Partners, and Coakley Home & Hardware.

Enjoy an evening of music and dancing right on Park Street in Canton! Be sure to bring a chair and check out our local restaurants and food trucks while you’re there.

We will also have several antique cars on Park St. to view during the Friday evening festivities.

Saturday, June 1 continues the fun with vendors, displays, and activities in the park starting at 10 a.m.

In line with our theme, “Get Mooving with Milk,” a 1-mile Fun Run and 5K, coordinated by the STLC Chamber and SLC Dairy Promotion Council, will begin registration at 8:30 a.m. in the park. The Fun Run is at 9 a.m., and 5K at 9:15 a.m.

The run is FREE for all participants, however, registration on the day of the event is required. All children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., K-Stone Acreage & Rescue will have their petting zoo in the park with various animals to feed and interact with.

Pony rides and animal food will be available for purchase during this time.

The parade will also take its’ traditional route downtown at 1 p.m. Cheer on this year’s Dairy Princess, Kaitlyn Putman, and the various floats, cars, and marching participants.

Following the parade will be the Duck Pluck 50/50 Raffle, get your tickets now, 1 for $2 and 3 for $5 at the STLC Chamber office or any of the locations listed on our website. Additionally, we would like to thank our Silver Level Sponsors, The Stadium Sports Bar, and Stewart’s Shops for their generous contributions.

Also happening on Saturday – free cake made by Canton’s own “The Sweet Retreat” to celebrate our 60th year, kid’s toy tractor pull races, awesome businesses to visit downtown, and more.
