Seven St. Lawrence County-based arts and culture organizations are slated to receive state art grant money.

The awards are part of more than $46 million in taxpayer dollars doled out as grant awards through the New York State Council on the Arts, announced the governor’s office recently.

St Lawrence County Arts Council (a.k.a. SLC Arts) will receive $208,000 to distribute as Statewide Community Regrants in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties. The allotment is divided into $160,000 for regrants and $48,000 towards administration.

Five organizations will receive state Support for Organizations cash. Akwesasne Library & Museum Cultural Center Inc. will receive $25,000 from the program, Norwood Village Green Concert Series, Inc. will receive $15,000; and Ogdensburg Command Performances, St. Lawrence County Historical Association and the Village of Potsdam Public Museum will each receive $30,000.

Traditional Arts In Upstate New York Inc. will receive a $10,000 Support of Artist Award for the Kathleen Richardson: Garments of the Past Knit into the Future exhibit and project.

And, finally, the Village of Potsdam Public Museum will receive a $10,000 Support of Artist Award for the Sara Lynch: Exploring Fall Island project.
