POTSDAM -- The St. Lawrence County Arts Council will hold a meet-the-artist event on Friday, Sept. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at the SLC Arts Gallery at the Potsdam Town Hall, 18 Elm Street, featuring painter Kasarian Dane.
Dane is known for his reductive paintings that investigate the complexities of colors and how they interact with one another through harsh division. He has displayed his paintings nationally in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and Minneapolis, and internationally in London, Munich, and Paris.
Dane lives in Madrid and works at St. Lawrence University where he teaches painting, drawing, and color theory.

At 5:30 p.m., Dane will offer a brief instructional lecture on encaustic, painting with hot wax, as a medium. He has been studying the technique for several years, and this exhibit displays examples of his encaustic work.
The New Paintings exhibit at the gallery is free, open to everyone, and wheelchair accessible. It will be on display through November 9th.
