POTSDAM – The St. Lawrence County Arts Council will celebrate their tenth anniversary with an elegant evening of dining Thursday, Nov. 10 as the chefs at 1844 House restaurant prepare a special ten-course menu – one item for every year of the SLC Arts Council’s service to the community.
The event will begin with cocktails at 6 p.m., followed by a ten-course menu that will be served family-style so diners may enjoy a feast of delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
The menu will include herbed goat cheese with roasted garlic and olive tapenade; escargot “1844” simmered in a fresh herb, garlic, mushroom and brandy sauce, served in a warm rosemary popover; apple and brie risotto with a cranberry gastrique; butternut squash ravioli with sage cream; creamy parsnip soup with toasted hazelnuts; petite 1844 salad; gateau aux fruits de mer - a seafood cake of crab, shrimp, and scallops perched atop a shaved fennel slaw and drizzled with a tomato-herb reduction; rosemary and garlic marinated lamb lollipops with cabernet demi-glace; pork a la max coots - a goodwin farm apple and cl cook farm sausage stuffed pork tenderloin finished with a brandied apple cider sauce; and croissant bread pudding with hot buttered rum sauce.
Reservations are $75 per person, which includes ten courses of dinner and dessert. Refreshments from the bar are additional.
The 1844 House is located at 6885 U.S. Rt. 11.
