CANTON -- St. Lawrence NYSARC, which works for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will host a “Sprout Film Festival” Saturday, April 14 in St. Lawrence University’s Gulick Theatre.
Screenings will highlight films related to intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The 2 p.m. screening will include 11 short films focusing on the politics of disabilities, rock music, and the viewpoint from fathers of children with disabilities. Four movies will be about Down Syndrome.
The 4 p.m. session will highlight Autism Spectrum Disorders with five films. The movies will show individuals in college, as artists, and as a quiz show contestant. Two of the movies are animated and shown from the perspective of people with Asperger’s.
Admission is free; the event is open to the public. St. Lawrence NYSARC will also provide resources and information for services available to people with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
